Gambhir Watson Fight – Gambhir Banned from next test

Day 1 3rd test .. Australian bowlers did everything possible from bowling good deliveries to bad behaviour engagement , but just cudnt upset Gambhir and get him out. Most of the day , Gambhir took the abuse but got involved in sledging and elbowing incidents with Katich and Watson respectively. Gambhir-Katich incident wasnt reported by the umpires to the match refree but they did report the other one. Watson pleaded ” not guilty ” against the Level 1 charge against him but Chris Broad found him guilty and penalised him 10% of his match fee.Verdict on Gambhir was postponed till friday morning.

Day 3 – While watching the match i was shocked to find the punishment handed to Gambhir after he pleaded guilty to his Level 2 offence. GAMBHIR BANNED FOR 1 TEST MATCH.

It really bothers me as i am sure Chris Broad present in the stadium watched each and every ball of the match as we did on our T.V sets. Is it really that hard to comprehend that the batsman had taken it all the entire day and was bound to react after constant bickering ? And is it even fair to penalise the ‘ provoker ‘ 10% (a huge amount for these highly paid sports-persons) of his match fee and an entire match to the guy who reacted. This made me think real hard about what Gavaskar said on day 2 . Gavaskar – ” I really think ICC should step in here. It has always happenes that the provoker gets away with a reprimand while the guy who reacts is fined heavily. This time too, i am sure the non sub-continent player will be let off the hook while sub-continent player would be staring at a hearing. What the provoker does, is not that obvious ” sly ” is the word !! “
Well atleast we will get to see some level of competition from australia after a in-form batsman is made to sit out incase Gambhir chooses not to appeal against the ban. ( He can appeal against the decision within 24 hrs)
