WATCH HIGHLIGHTS of Day 3 – 1st test match played at hamilton between India and New Zealand.

The day belonged to India and well truly to SACHIN TENDULKAR . 42nd century , 18th score of 150+ , 71st hundred run partnership which is only second to Rahul Dravid’s 74 … the records kept tumbling with Sachin punching the ball of the backfoot and then executing the same shot leaning in on the front. The commentators kept on saying this is ” pure clinic of cricket. Sachin in his good old style and mood.” It was a masterclass from the little master.

After Yuvraj misread a delivery that smudged back from the seam and took his stumps, Dhoni tried to support Sachin at the other end and wasnt keen on keeping the scoring rate. He was happy to play second fiddle till he thought Indians had enough lead. Sachin dominated the hundred run stand and when Dhoni tried to up the ante, Ryder plucked a blinder at gully which was doubtful enough to be given not out and replays showed rightly so. But three balls later he tried to hook a short one which kissed the his gloves and into Mccullum’s gloves. Harbhajan Singh couldnt survive much longer but the cameo of the day was by Zaheer Khan. He played his shots fearlessly all around the park and smashed a 45 ball 50 and later came out to bowl the first over , picking Mcintosh’s wicket on third delivery. Sachin took a very low catch in first slip and bruised his right index. The decision was in India’s favor however there was an argument between commentators whether the ball bounced in front of Sachin. But it looked a good decision after a zillion replays.
Newzealand lost Guptill to Bhaji and Munaf Patel having bombarded the nightwatchman Kyle Mills with reverse swinging yorkers, finally managed LBW decision on very last ball of the day. New Zealand trailing about 169 with 7 wickets and 2 days remaining, it shouldnt be too long for India to change their history in New Zealand

India vs Newzealand first test match – hamilton Day 2

The day began with senseless runout of Virendra Sehwag. Though NewZealanders would have heaved a sigh of relief, they were aware of the ferocious Indian batting Line-up, which came out pretty good with half centuries from Gambhir , Dravid and Tendulkar (70 not out). Sachin looks determined to get his 42nd Test hundered and day 3 first session should be enough time for him. Yuvraj singh looks well settled and with Dhoni still to come and indians trailing by 1 run …Newzealanders are staring at a big hole !!

Highlights of the first day of 1st test match between India and Newzealand played at Hamilton Seddon park on 18th of March 2009.
The day started with Dhoni winning the toss and deciding to bowl first which was a bit odd decisions according to the comentators , looking at the fairly sunny conditions and a grassless pitch. But his decision was vindicated by his pace attack reducing Newzealand to 60 for 6 before a brave reconciliation by Daniel Vettori (118) and Ryder(102) with a 180 odd run 7th wicket record stand. Its New zealand’s highest 7th wicket stand against India. The second session of the play was the best for newzealand with this record coming unlike the first session and the third session which belonged to Indians. India finished the New-zealand tail and took off 29 runs from the total of 279 with Sehwag again looking dangerous at 22 off 18 deliveries with 5 boundaries.
