– The First looks of the movie promises a very fresh and young entry in the Rom-Com genre. One cannot ignore the on-screen chemistry between Ranbir and Katrina. Pritam Chakraborty might be known for his tune-lifting abilities but all credits to him for the peppy chart-busters he produces every time and this one is no different. Another special ability of his is making Atif sing, rather than his usual rendition of lyrics. Bakhuda from Kismat Konnection was a surprise and again the two best songs of this album, Tu Jaane na and Tera hone Lagaa hu, are by Atif. The album has 14 Tracks with 7 songs and as many remixes by DJ Suketu. The lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil (Love Aaj Kal , Jab We Met) and Ashish Pandit (Billu Barber , Bhagam Bhag).
01 – Main Tera Dhadkan Teri - K.K , Sunidhi & Hard Kaur (Download)
DISAPPOINTING !! I was eagerly waiting for the album to release and was surprised it wasnt released earlier as the movie is scheduled to release in a month’s time (25th Dec 2008). But after listening to the songs, i dont think that music would have added a lot to the movie. To sum it up, very ordinary work by Rahman and nuthing to say about lyrics. Romantic songs lacks the touch of melody, majorly because of bad lyrics. Shreya Ghoshal, once again, is the plus point and the only for this album.
I would say that this is possibly the best in the album compared to other songs. Sung by Javed Ali with Sonu Nigam in background. This is what really let me down in the song. Sonu Nigam’s voice would have been a much-much better option to go with for the entire song.
Senseless lyrics and music strong on bass. Suzanne (Jaan-e-man fame) sounds energetic and is a good choice for the song but really what the music director and singer can do if there is no weight in the lyrics.
Benny Dayal is stuck in his Yuvvraaj mode. I am not sure if that’s his style, but the song sounds pretty much the same as Meri Dost from Yuvvraaj. But he has done a good job and so has Shreya. She is apt choice for the melody required and sweetens the rather tasteless lyrics. Lyrics are good in patches but theres no semantics considering the whole song. A hard try to rhyme the song may be the reason but in doing so, lyricist lost the continuity of thoughts. May be second best in the album with competition from Behka
Very Rahman style. This one reminds you of A.R rahman from Rangeela era. Kya kare kya na kare is the inspiration behind the song. I would say not bad but given the standards set by Rahman, you expect much more. Again, some parts of the lyrics are penned just for the sake of rhyming.
Mixed feeling! Shreya is what you would wanna listen. Kudos for Rahman to get the best out of her chords. Kinda catchy but lacks the zing though. Lyrics is the reason. After a very very ordinary album , this song would make you happy. 06 – Kaise Mujhe (instrumental) (Download)
The only melody in the album. It is a soothing instrumental with lovely Shreya humming to the tune of Kaise Mujhe with sweet flutes. Given the dark nature of the script, it is also the only fitting piece in the entire album.
Simplicity and Melody are the two words that describe the entire effort of Salim- Suleiman’s music and Jaideep Sahni’s pen-work. All the songs are sweet to the ears but i have this feeling that picturisation plays an important part in this album. Songs are situational with melodious renditions of very simple lyrics. ” Phir milenge chalte chalte ” sung by Sonu Nigam and picturised on Shahrukh and 5 other actresses is gonna be a popular video to look out for. Dance pe Chance is gonna be the show stealer once the video is out. I would say the album deserves a rating of 8/10
01 – Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai – Roopkumar Rathod(Download)
Roop Kumar Rathod’s voice gives the song the much needed soothing feeling. Simple lyrics and melody is the forte of this album and the album opener sets the suite.
The song will get more popular once the entire video is out. Simple lyrics and Sukhwinder Singh not stressing his vocal chords top of his breath, for a change , croons out a lovely song. Watching Shahrukh in this video highlights the element of simplicity, which is the very feel of this album. Definitely the best of the lot.
Sunidhi Chauhan does a really good job to this Boogie-Woogie kinda song. She is energetic and yet lends a melodious touch to the song.Lyrics are to learn simple dancing steps but it indeed has the hummable feel to it. Watch out for picturisation of this song. Could well become a favorite after watching Shahrukh and Anushka shaking a leg to this one. Gonna be in top chart-busters
04 – Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte – Sonu Nigam (Download)
Just amazing … the word that comes to my mind after every re-run of this song. Really good job done by Sonu Nigam but words of praise for the lyricist – Jaideep Sahni too. Its a hard job to chop and mix masterpieces from yesteryears of bollywood. But the lyrics came out really good. With 31 stars in Om Shanti Om number , this one falls way down to 5 . But still this song should be fun to watch. 05 – Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai – Shreya Ghoshal(Download)
If Roop Kumar Rathod was good… Shreya Ghoshal is superb and soulful as always. The song is just about a minute and half but leaves you wanting more of Shreya’s melodious voice. Lyrics ,again, are simple and sweet.
In all , a really good album. Not often does this happen that all the songs in a album are good and worth listening again and again. Its hard to rate which one is the best but Dance pe Chance has that X – factor to it while Phir milenge Chalte Chalte is new and different and Haule Haule is good melody too.
HEROES (2008) –
The movie was earlier titled Mera Bharat Mahaan but was changed to Heroes as the earlier title suggested this movie as a patriotic one. Instead the movie is about two boys on a road trip, making a documentary. It showcases the life of army people efore they go into wars.
Album opener sung by Sonu Nigam and Kavita Krishnamurthy. Has been really long since we heard these beautiful voices together (I think Kismat se tum from Pukar was their last duet). Well coming back to this song, music is kinda melodious…ok …. but the lyrics are not the kind that gonna be on people’s mind for a long time. Looks like a situational song with Salman interested in some family planning with Preity and anticipating a happy married life forever.
Kunal ganjawala tries to match up to the energy of the electric guitars used in the song. Again nothing great about either lyrics or music. Every song in the album starts with a promise but fails to deliver after the first minute.
Sukhwinder Singh with another punjabi song under his belt. I apologize for repeating the comments but again very ordinary. Kinda weird too, kinda romantic songs ends on PATRIOTIC note. I wonder whats the scene in the script!!
Bhojpuri seems to be catching up with Punjabi in Bollywood music now-a-days. Sounds like a teasing number between the cast. wanna listen to something thats not fresh at all with stupid lyrics …this one’s ur number. Might get popular with the masses for its ‘ out of the way ‘ lyrics and style. And of course the video has all the ingredients – Riya Sen, after a trip under the knife, with revealing clothes.
YUVVRAAJ music review – Subhash Ghai , A.R. Rahman , Gulzaar…… Three mega performers in their respective field of arts together … A promise in itself to deliver beautiful music. It is no secret that Ghai himself gets involved in the music of his movie so much and delivers amazing product each and every time. The three names assures me of good poetry , melodious tune and beautiful picturization.
Let me start with what i think is the best song in the album.
Tu Hi To Meri Dost Hai Download
Sung by Benny Dayal and the wonderful Shreya Ghoshal. With every song she is singing , you cannot help but fall in love with her.Benny’s husky voice is perfect for the soulful ambience of this song.Sounds like Rahman clone but has really good voice and does amazing job. Shreya Ghoshal … the voice cant get any sweeter or melodious. Very fitting complement to Benny’s vocal. The way she releases the lyrics , (note the way she ends every word of hers…i think its becoming her signature style. just fades out the pitch before going on to next word). Many sources say song is sung by Rahman himself. One para does sound like Rahman has sung it.Sweet and Simple lyrics by Gulzar. I wonder why he transformed his style from absolute poetry like Saathiya tittle to very simple poem as in Jaane-man and this song itself. In all very hummable and lovely song. One more thing , i think it acts pretty much as background score for the entire movie. The tune is also used in other songs of the album …. Tu Muskura and Manmohini
this is the album opener. Rather than a number , its a recital by Salman Khan with Beethoven’s symphony in the background. One minute of blabber , i think describing his character. Gives you the feeling this movie is again based on musical background like Ghai’s previous TAAL.
Mix between Flo-rida style and Pappu can’t Dance. Doesnt really makes sense to me the importance this number in the album. I hope it is needed in the script
Glimpses of Gulzar stlye in lyrics. Very well sung by Javed Ali and Alka yagnik. She is melodious and justifies the mood of the song. Javed Ali does well on Rehman’s standard of singing fast sargams in the song.
Fun-frolic party kinda peppy number. I think lyrics would make sense according to the scene in the script. Sonu nigam does well using his signature style in the entire song. Nothing much to do for him or show his talent (he doesnt need to do so anymore) as far as the song is considered. But if you are a Sonu Nigam fan , note the variations he used and can appreciate how he has sung this one differently from what others would have done. I think thats the only reason Rehman went with Sonu for this song.
Listening to a couple of lines, i thought it was Hariharan but later on realised it was kinda different though. Srinivas gets the emotions right on. Sung very well with beautiful Gulzar lyrics and apt music. Rehman’s music just gives the song perfect pitch of emotions and melody.
Dil Ka RishtaDownload
Sounds much more as a musical theme . Really loved the way the music is arranged. Again , song would be more appreciated once the story is known. But for now listen to this one as a theme music, you will enjoy Rehman’s work
Nicely done by Vijay Prakash. This falls in classical music genre with Rahman’s use of different instruments in mono form (sound flowing from one speaker to another) making it semi-classical.
Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach
This is what i truly believe in and that is why i am trying to create here a small world of music where everyone can share the poetry , the rhythm , the music – that soothes you. Music ; it is my friend in loneliness , my elixir in pain and sorrow , the one that helps me get through tough times. As said by H.A. Overstreet ” I have my own particular sorrows, loves, delights; and you have yours. But sorrow, gladness, yearning, hope, love, belong to all of us, in all times and in all places. Music is the only means whereby we feel these emotions in their universality.”
The purpose behind this post is to share the music that i listen to. I would like to share what that particular song means to me , what makes it so amazing for me and would hope to get some feed back , some songs that other readers would like to share.
Being a big bollywood music fan , as obvious as it could be , you will often see Rafi saahab , Kishore da , Mukesh and many other being listed but i would like to start off with the singer whom i personally believe to be the God if music is a religion. As said by many , SONU NIGAM – THE MINSTREL CZAR!! A singer par excellence with euphonious voice. You have to see him perform live to believe that he is a far better entertainer than what he sounds in a recording room. Will talk more about these singers and some interesting facts and incidents from their life in future. Would like to end this post here with some of his songs that touches my soul everytime i hear them.
1. Soona man ka aangan – Sonu nigam – Parineeta (2005)
As with any other song of his , sonu nigam has rendered this one with so much feelings … it is hard not to fall in love with this one.
2. Sab kuch bhula diya – Sonu nigam – Hum Tumhaare hain Sanam (2002)
Another one that could make you cry… Beautiful lyrics in accord with the situation of the movie
Very few instruments used in recording this one … Listen Sonu singing this one and u will feel what was the need to use instruments…truly melodious voice.
The thing that amazes me about sonu nigam is that his first playback was for a movie in year 1985… he was 12 years old. His voice has remained unchanged for 23 years. Later on will tell you the song and you can compare it yourselves. Before signing off ……
